Effective October 21, 2026.
JB Spirit Media operates Book Tree. Our contact address is 1138 New York Ave, St Cloud, FL 34769, United States. For privacy requests and account help, email membership@booktree.app.
When you register, we store your name, email address, account type, password hash and email verification status. We use these details to operate your account, verify your email, send password-reset messages, send author setup reminders that you can turn off, and administer access. Passwords are stored as hashes rather than readable passwords.
Authors can provide a biography, profile and cover pictures, country, book details, cover images, descriptions and external links. Information submitted for a public author profile or book listing is displayed publicly and may appear in search engines. Please avoid including private information in public descriptions or images. Account passwords and password-reset tokens are not public profile information.
The service stores saved-book and follow relationships, book-view records and counts, and author trial dates to provide reader features and administer the free author trial. Hosting and application logs may contain technical information such as IP addresses, browser information, requested pages and errors. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message.
If you register as an author through another author’s invitation link, we store the relationship between the accounts. The invitation is remembered in your existing session while you register. Inviting authors receive a count of verified, active authors who joined through their link; their invitation report does not include invitees’ names, email addresses or private account details. Public author profiles remain public.
Book Tree does not collect your contacts or send invitation emails on your behalf. You can copy an invitation or choose to share it through your device’s own apps. Sharing through another service is subject to that service’s privacy practices.
Book Tree uses cookies to maintain sessions, protect forms against unauthorized requests and remember cookie choices. External analytics remain disabled in the beta release. Book Tree maintains first-party daily aggregate counts of public profile, book and article views, follows, and clicks to retailers, author websites and newsletters. Authors see totals for their own content, not visitor identities. No IP addresses or visitor identifiers are stored in these aggregate counts. Existing sessions limit repeat counts for 30 minutes (follow actions for 24 hours); known crawlers, author/admin previews, prefetches and requests signalling Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are excluded from new counts. Counts are estimates, not unique people, confirmed sales or proof of search-engine indexing. Older book-view counts remain separate.
The site currently requests some fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google's servers for these requests. Visiting an external retailer, author website or other linked service is subject to that service's privacy practices.
Namecheap provides hosting, and Namecheap Private Email handles account email delivery. These providers process information needed for their services. Book purchases take place on external websites. Book Tree does not collect payment-card details or process paid memberships during this beta.
Authorized administrators can access records needed to operate and support the service. Public author and book information is available to visitors. We do not publish password hashes, reset tokens or private account administration records.
Hiding a listing after its trial and grace period does not erase the stored listing or account. Disabling a login also does not erase historical records. Backups may retain earlier copies. Contact membership@booktree.app to request access, correction, account closure or deletion. We may need to verify that a request concerns your account before acting on it. Applicable rights and any lawful reasons for retaining records depend on the circumstances and relevant law.
We will publish an updated notice when our practices change. Automated policy-change emails are not currently available. Any new payment terms will be presented before you choose a paid membership.
We use Cloudflare Turnstile on signup and login forms to detect automated abuse. The check involves requests from your browser to Cloudflare, which processes technical browser and network information. Our server sends the security token to Cloudflare for validation; it does not send your Book Tree password or email address to Turnstile. Read Cloudflare’s privacy policy for more information.
